[Fantasy] Week 7: resist absences

It’s the return of the Fantasy section on DNA of Sports, every Saturday find our tips, our favorites, and the pitfalls to avoid.

The fantasy leagues are getting tough with this week 7. With some of the best scorers in bye week, you’ll have to be smart, have a nose, and a little luck to limit the damage. An opportunity to reap (or revive) for those who will benefit from his absences against them.

The absents

With the two best teams at the moment, and the defending champion, on rest, many playmakers will be missing this week, foremost among them 2022 scoring leader Josh Allen and 2021 offensive player Cooper Kupp. Ditto for Justin Jefferson or Stefon Diggs. Many base men to replace.

Conversely, two starting quarterbacks are back with Tua Tagovailoa and Dak Prescott absent since week 1.

Quarterbacks

The safe bet: Derek Carr. Back from bye week, Carr is rested and ready to score points against Texans within reach.
The bet: Tua Tagovailoa. Returning to the game after two weeks of absence due to concussion, the left-hander of the Dolphins intends to confirm his progress. Faced with the Steelers’ secondary weakened by injuries, the Waddle and Hill arrows could allow Tua to happily exceed 20 points.
Avoid: Jared Goff. Even behind a solid line, Jared Goff could suffer against the Cowboys front 7. The Texas defense has muzzled accomplished pitchers since the start of the season, such as Bray and Stafford. Not ideal for reviving Goff in the heat of fantasy after his bye week.

Running back

The safe bet: Breece Hall. He’s the fit man. Excellent on the ground, he can also capture balls to the delight of fantasy managers who had bet on him. Faced with the solid defense of the Broncos, the game is not won in advance, but if Zach Wilson is heckled, he will rest even more on his backfield.
The bet: Travis Etienne. Little by little, the Jags’ player is gaining momentum. It remains on two games over 100 yards combined. He just needs a touchdown.
Avoid: Jeff Wilson. Inevitably the arrival of McCaffrey in the bay does not only make people happy. The 49ers runners and especially their fantasy managers. With less importance in the 49ers game, their performance should suffer, starting with Jeff Wilson, leader of the California backfield until this week.

Receivers

The safe bet: Amari Cooper. The Ravens take a lot of points and are 4th in the number of points to concede to receivers. What make you want to align Cooper. Targeted more than 10 times in 4 of the last 5 games, the receiver is clearly the basic man in the aerial game.
The bet: Alec Pierce. His connection with Matt Ryan is starting to put a new face on the Colts offense. Targeted more and more often, Pierce also unlocked his touchdown counter. The clash of division against the Titans could be the occasion to confirm its rise in power on the ground and statistics.
Avoid: Garrett Wilson. Facing the Broncos defense which takes few points and in particular the backfield where Patrick Surtain reigns. The evening could be painful for the rookie. The advent of Hall and the option Corey Davis limit his role. It is wiser to wait for other opposition to align it.

Tight-end

The safe bet: Robert Tonyan. In the current offensive slump of the Packers, it was one of the rare satisfactions. Largely targeted by Rodgers, he seems to have recreated his connection with his quarterback by offering him a reassuring safety valve. Against the Commanders he should still capture many balls and play an important role in the red zone.
The bet: Dalton Schultz. With the return of Dak Prescott, the tight end could regain its production and its contribution, especially in the zone of truth. A risky bet to take when you know that Dallas faces the worst defense in the league this weekend.
Avoid: Cole Kmet. Still out of production in 2022, the second year is struggling to confirm in an air attack at the bottom of the hole. Faced with the Patriots, it is better to avoid tempting the devil by aligning it and risking punishment.

Top 5 waivers of the week

1. Dont’a Foreman – RB
2. Alex Pierce – WR
3. Corey Davis – WR
4. Tyquan Thornton – WR
5. Greg Dulcich – TE

The Griz’League

Tiffany asserts herself week after week as a more than serious contender for the playoffs. Now alone in the lead after a clear victory over Alexandre, her trio of playmakers Hill, McCaffrey, Fournette could take her very far. After 3 defeats in a row, Alain revived brilliantly by scoring more than double the points of Marco, literally abandoned by his team.

Privileged Zach Wilson to Trevor Lawrence will have allowed Antoine to offer Gregory his first victory of the season. The hour of the reassembly may have sounded. Victor returns to Xavier in the standings thanks to his victory in their match up, well helped by Diggs beyond 30 points. Brice returns to a balanced balance sheet after his victory over Mathieu handicapped by broken down receivers. Finally in the tight match of the week, Elioth gets the better of Romain and takes the podium in the standings.
