As he was about to begin the last year of his contract, Jake Matthews has just clarified his future.
According to NFL Media, the Atlanta left tackle has signed a 3-year contract extension for $52.5 million. This will allow him to earn an average of $18.5 million per season.
This makes him the fifth highest paid tackle in the NFL behind Trent Williams (23 million/season), David Bakhtiari (23), Laremy Tunsil (22) and Ronnie Stanley (19.75).
In 2021, Matthews allowed 2 sacks in 17 games, his lowest career tally. He was penalized 7 times.
