“There is no point in running, you have to go out of time”. This quote could perfectly summarize Quinshon Judkins, except for his work, which is to run. A great master of patience and waiting, Judkins has for three years martyred the defenses. First in dry, in Ole Miss, where he was in his season freshman Recognized as the best first year of the country's most raised conference in the country. Then in Ohio State, where he shared playing time with Treveyon Henderson, until the supreme title. National final in which he was also grand. Productive on his three university seasons, mature despite his young age, and reliable physically, he is one of the best runners in this class.
Strengths
- Power
- Finishing
- Patience
Quinshon Judkins is a physical runner, capable of imposing the tempo of a match by his intensity. From contact, it demonstrates an excellent ability to absorb shocks and stand, which allows it to win additional yards. What also impresses is its acceleration: without being an elite sprinter, Judkins has a rein stroke that allows it to exploit the gaps.
Like many powerful runners, it is formidable in Red Zone. His vision, balance and strength make him a constant threat to convert short opportunities. He knows how to find the way to in-goal. In three seasons, Quinkh Judkins scored 45 touchdowns on the ground, 15 per year. It never slows down to the approach of contact, and always provides the additional effort to get the six points.
Judkins also stands out for its maturity in readings. He waits for the blocks to develop, then strikes at the right time. Rather rarely rare in a young running back, Quinkh Judkins has shown great patience. He reads the movements of the offensive line well and includes the angles of pursuit of the linebackers, which allows him to make the right decision. He lets the game come to him, before leaping.
Small additional positive point and non-negligible in a running back: in three university seasons, he did not miss the slightest match. Rare solidity on this position, and necessarily appreciable for its future team.
Weak points
- Patience
- Top speed
- Pass protection
If patience is the mother of all virtues, her excess can be fatal. One of the main qualities of Quinshon Judkins is also its biggest defect. By dint of expecting too much, he can sometimes slow down the execution of the game and offer defenders more time to react. Faced with an aggressive defense, this hesitation can lead to losses of yards, especially when the opposing linemen penetrate quickly into the backfield. Judkins must learn to take what the defense gives it rather than always seek the ideal option.
Although it has a good initial acceleration, its top speed remains limited. Judkins is not slow, far from it, but once the field is open, he finds it difficult to create the necessary separation to finish the long races in touchdowns. He is more a runner of volume, tiring a defense over time, than a creator of large games.
Quinkh Judkins must clearly progress on pass protection. His hand investment is often approximate, and sometimes has trouble diagnosing blitz from the outside. This can compromise the security of the quarterback and limit its use on three attempts. Although he has shown signs of improvement, he still lacks technique and stability in his supports to stand up to NFL rushers pass.
Possible destinations
Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, Houston Texans
After three beautiful university years, Quinkh Judkins therefore chooses the big jump to the NFL. Productive and reliable, it will be a major asset for the team that will recover it. Perhaps a little just to be the only leader in a ground game, his profile seems perfect for a committee of which he could become the fatal weapon.
