[Draft Sheets] Peter Skoronski (OT), small hands, big talent

Peter Skoronski – Offensive Tackle – 21 – Junior – Northwestern

Height: 1m93
Weight: 133kg
Estimated Draft Position: Top 15
NFL Comparison: Zack Martin

If the class of tackle is rich in different profiles, Peter Skoronski is part of the top of the basket. A player as intelligent as he is mobile, he has assets that can make him a top 10.

Strong points

  • Soccer IQ
  • Mobility
  • Versatility
  • Balance

Before talking about the physical and technical qualities of Skoronski, we must first talk about his football IQ. Intelligent player, he reads the game before everyone else and this allows him to brilliantly anticipate the movements of his vis-à-vis. What’s fascinating about the Northwestern tackle is that this understanding of the game seems to get sharper every year, giving him a leg up on the rest of the field.

If anticipating the action is a good thing, you have to be able to follow the action physically. And here again Skoronski is above the lot. His movement is fluid, and his feet seem to fly on the ground, which allows him to always be in a good position, always in front of his vis-à-vis without ever having to catch up on any delay. His technique is very good in all phases, which makes him an asset against the run and against the pass.

With so many qualities, Skoronski’s versatility is obviously to be highlighted. Like Zack Martin before him, it is not excluded to see him become an NFL guard, but with such talent he will inevitably find a position to shine, and perhaps even become All-Pro.

Weak points

  • Physical Size
  • Power

Peter Skoronski’s main problem is unfortunately something he can’t work on: his physical dimensions. He has shorter than average arms and is not as tall as his class competitors. If for this position the proportions are often important, he would not be the first player “too small” to succeed at the highest level.

Its lack of size also results in a relative lack of power. But it’s a defect that seems less and less present over the years, proof of its mad progression.

Possible destinations

Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles, Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, New York Jets

Tennessee is under reconstruction, and the line doesn’t have much talent left. As a guard or a tackle, he will be a strong reinforcement. The Eagles could also see him as a replacement for Seumalo in the short term and Lane Johnson in the long term. Most NFL teams have guarding and tackling needs, and Skoronski is an ideal Swiss army knife in the modern NFL.
