The Cowboys were behind in the second quarter, they waited until the last quarter to break away, but they didn’t really shake. If they gained fewer yards and had the ball for less time, the Dallas players did not lose the ball and they only lost 20 yards on penalties. Washington is far from being able to say the same with two lost balls and 11 penalties which cost them 136 lengths!
For his third outing, Cooper Rush (15/27, 223 yards, 2 TDs) was still very solid. His pass from 30 yards for a touchdown from CeeDee Lamb (6 rec, 97 yards, 1 TD) killed the game in the fourth period.

With five punts and two field goals, the start of the match did not really panic the counters. It was the Cowboys who scored the two kicks in question. But Carson Wentz (25/42, 170 yards, 1 TD, 2 int) and Jahan Dotson (3 rec, 43 yards, 1 TD) ended up finding the fault to pass (6-7). A dynamic immediately stopped by Michael Gallup (2 rec, 24 yards, 1 TD), who celebrated his return from injury with a touchdown (12-7), whose extra point was missed.
Always anxious to treat his irregularity, Wentz was then intercepted before the break. The festival of punts resumes at the exit of the locker room, before an exchange of field goal (15-10).
On the first action of the last quarter, Rush sends Lamb to the touchdown (22-10). There’s plenty of time left, but it’s already too much for Washington. The end of the match is a long way of the cross for Wentz and his squad: punt, failure on 4th attempt, interception, failure on 4th, and finally a series of 7 actions for only 30 yards in the last two minutes of the match. If there was a price for inefficiency, Wentz could claim it with an average of 3.5 yards per attempted pass. But that’s not how you win.
While the capital team struggled, Rush made no mistake, and his attack even added a kick (25-10). While Dak Prescott could make his return in the fifth week, his understudy has chained three successes and would return the keys to him in a good situation.
