Buccaneers: Bruce Arians steps down as coach!

Todd Bowles is the new Buccaneers coach. The franchise announced it overnight from Wednesday to Thursday.

Earlier, Bruce Arians announced that he is leaving the sidelines to take on a leadership role with the Tampa team. In a long statement, the champion coach in 2020-21 specifies that his departure has nothing to do with health issues and that he even feels very well.

“This team is in a much better position than three years ago thanks to the superb work of Jason Licht (GM) and the desire to win of the Glazer family. […] I wanted to make sure that when I left, Todd Bowles would have the best chance of succeeding, ”explains Arians in his message.

Arians leaves Tampa with a record of 31 wins and 18 losses in 3 years. But above all, he has a record of 5 wins for a single defeat in the playoffs, with his first title gleaned in 2020-21. He is 69 years old.

Rumors of disagreement between Arians and Tom Brady have circulated in recent months. Arians has always refuted it, and Brady posted a message of thanks following the announcement of his coach’s withdrawal. Still, the timing of this announcement is questionable.

Bowles already has experience as a head coach, first with a small interim in Miami, then four years at the head of the Jets. It was between 2015 and 2018. He had then accumulated 24 wins and 40 losses. In Tampa, the former defensive coordinator will have a much more competitive roster to try to do better.

ESPN clarified that the Buccaneers directly gave Bowles a five-year contract. So it’s not a temporary job.
