This time it's the right one! Brock Purdy (QB) is back and will start for the 49ers this Sunday against the Cardinals.
Kyle Shanahan (HC) and Brock Purdy confirmed this to the press after the Californians' training session this Thursday.
» It is not limited at all. Brock Purdy trained fully today. I thought he was already close to coming back last week. We even considered it, but figured one more week would help. I talked to him, and watching him all week, I think he looks great. And I can't tell you the difference from what it always was. So I think he made the decision easy for us. There is no time to lose. It's time to launch it. » explains Shanahan in comments relayed by KNBR, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com.
Brock Purdy hasn't played since Week 4 when he re-aggravated a toe injury. An injury contracted in week 1. The pitcher has only played 2 games this season for 65.8% of completed passes, 586 yards, 4 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Recall that Purdy was playing with a depopulated 49ers target squad.
In his absence, it was Mac Jones who took command of the attack. The backup quarterback led the 49ers to 5 wins in 8 games.
