Will the Warriors lose Bob Myers?

It’s hard to find a more brilliant career than that of Bob Myers, a former agent who crossed the line in April 2011 as assistant GM to Larry Riley at Golden State.

Promoted to GM a year later, he is the architect of the dynasty, since only Stephen Curry arrived before him at Golden State! Twice voted best NBA leader of the year, Bob Myers has therefore helped build a workforce that has dominated the league to the point of having won four championship titles, in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022.

But Bob Myers, who has become president of the club’s basketball operations, is not guaranteed to stay with the Warriors! According to ESPN, his current contract would end next June, and has still not been renewed. While discussions have been initiated in recent months, negotiations are currently at a standstill.

“I’m fully focused on the season and the team,” just slipped Bob Myers to ESPNwhile franchise owner Joe Lacob expressed his appreciation for its leader. “We love Bob and hope he sticks around for a long time.”

What should we conclude from this? Is Bob Myers playing the watch? Is he planning on a new challenge?

As an example, we can cite Masai Ujiri of the Raptors, who found himself in a similar situation at the end of the 2020/21 season, and finally extended.

Meanwhile, the Warriors are reportedly working on Steve Kerr’s extension, but the situation is much less urgent than Bob Myers’ because the Golden State coach’s contract runs until the end of the 2023/24 season.
