Warriors – Pistons: Klay Thompson finds his paw | NBA

Winners 102-86, the Warriors were up to 34 points ahead at the start of the third quarter after dominating the debates in the first half. In the absence of Draymond Green, Steve Kerr launched Jonathan Kuminga (12 points, 10 rebounds) in the starting five.

After a complicated “road trip” ending in a setback in Minneapolis, the Warriors find the Chase Center and their energy suffers. Nine points from Andrew Wiggins and rebounding dominance from Kevon Looney put them in orbit before two award-winning shots from Stephen Curry launched a 15-4 that made the first gap (33-22).

Entangled in the Golden State defense, the Pistons then lost five balls in the first six minutes of the second quarter and the gap swelled (47-26). Detroit’s problem escalates even further when Klay Thompson catches fire. He scores 12 of Golden State’s last 20 points to put his team at +28 (66-38)!

Hamidou Diallo, Saddiq Bey, and Rodney McGruder then took advantage of Golden State’s relaxation to bring the Pistons down to -20, while Killian Hayes had to leave his partners after a bad fall on the right hip (83-63). Rdoney McGruder, whom Klay Thompson had chambered last season, continued to shine in the last quarter without the difference or the outcome of the meeting changing. The Warriors start their seven-game home streak with an easy win.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

The Pistons offense revives the Golden State defense. Our defense has been good all season, but we haven’t been at the same level in the last week and we have to go back to our principles: pressure on the carrier, rotations, communication explained Steve Kerr before the match. Who else but the worst attack in the league to get back ahead despite the absence of Draymond Green? It was the Warriors’ defense that allowed them to take a nearly 30-point lead in the first half, limiting Detroit to 38 points, 36% shooting success, and more lost balls (10) than assists (8). The Pistons have not reached the 90 point mark.

The best match of Klay Thompson since his return. After four games played, Klay Thompson was pretty good but his 35% shooting success was not worthy of the “Splash Brother”. In twelve minutes of play in the first half, he then dotted the i’s. He started the match with a winning shot from the corner before catching fire late in the second quarter. Always on the move and looking for an opening, he took advantage of Detroit’s loose defense to hit the mark twice, including one just before the halftime buzzer and found several easy baskets under The circle. Klay Thompson ends the half with 17 points on 5 of 9 on shots, and 3 of 5 from 3-pointers, but also several moments of frustration on a missed lay-up despite the fault of Isaiah Stewart or on an open shot 3-point.

Painful learning for young Pistons. Despite a defeat guaranteed at the end of the second quarter, the Pistons never gave up. If they made many mistakes, Dwane Casey’s men never stopped fighting. They continued to ensure their defensive withdrawal and, like Hamidou Diallo and Saddiq Bey, they were aggressive until the end of the match despite their clumsiness. Casey can be satisfied with the state of mind of his players.

TOPS/FLOPS

Stephen Curry. With 18 points, 4 of 8 from 3-pointers, 8 assists, and 3 steals, the point guard was one of the spearheads of Golden State’s good game. He left at the end of the third quarter with a minor injury to a finger in his left hand.

Clay Thompson. The “Splash Brother” scored 17 of his 21 points in the first half and confirms that his address should continue to stabilize the more matches he plays.

Andrew Wiggins. The Warriors winger also shone in the first half, scoring 13 of his 19 points, and he was the main architect of the Warriors’ good defense on Cade Cunningham.

Isaiah Stewart. The pivot was the most efficient and consistent Piston, finishing the game with a double double (14 points, 11 rebounds).

Rodney McGruder. For his first game since his aborted transfer to Denver, Rodney McGruder finished as Detroit’s leading scorer with 19 points off the bench.

Cade Cunningham. The Pistons rookie suffered against Golden State’s aggressive defense. He finished with 8 points to 3 of 10 on shots, 4 assists, and 5 stray balls.
