Tyrese Maxey tied to Sixers until at least 2024

Tyrese Maxey will remain one of the most profitable players in the league for another two seasons. The Sixers have indeed just activated his fourth year of contract which was optional for the 2023/24 season. Which means he’s supposed to get $4.3 million next year, after this season at $2.7 million.

An excessively low salary in view of its current statistical production which continues to climb. The leader-back is approaching 23 points on average, with superb percentages (50% on shots including 47% from afar), thus relegating Tobias Harris to a role of fourth option, far behind Joel Embiid and James Harden.

We recall that Tobias Harris has the biggest salary in the team today (37.6 million dollars) but the emergence of the 21-year-old player will necessarily redistribute the cards financially.

Apart from Tyrese Maxey, the Sixers have also activated youngster Jaden Springer’s third year on contract. Drafted at the 28th position in 2021, this rear remains a project for Philadelphia. He has made two short appearances this season, which is as much… as his entire rookie season. In the G-League last year, he averaged 15 points.
