The Magic resist the new triple-double of Luka Doncic | NBA

Without Kristaps Porzingis, Dallas relied heavily on Luka Doncic, author of his 7th triple-double of the season (34 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists) but the Slovenian lacked support.

Opposite, the young guard from Orlando felt that there was something to play for when the baskets of the opposing “franchise player” were not enough for the Mavericks to take control of the match. It was even Orlando who made the difference, twice, in the second half, even if the Texans were very close to leaving with victory.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

Luka Doncic looking for support. Big line of stats for the Slovenian, who had all the balls and made his technique speak against the young Floridians. The Magic having decided to prevent him from taking the last shot, he offered the winning ball to Maxi Kleber. Failed, just like Reggie Bullock’s last prayer.

Franz Wagner, Magic’s go-to-guy. Orlando’s two decisive shots in the last minute were for the rookie. He put the first, not easy, before missing the second.

A chaotic end to the game. Overall, the end of the match was quite average for both sides. Franz Wagner certainly scored a decisive layup at the start of the last minute, but the Mavs still had plenty of time to tip the scales in their favor. A general confusion marked by this action, after a failure by Franz Wagner 20 seconds from the end. Orlando leads by one point (109-108), Maxi Kleber takes the rebound, Jason Kidd wants to take a time-out but the referees don’t hear him and Jalen Suggs steals the ball from the German. Enough to offer two throws to Wendell Carter Jr, who still leaves one on the way…

TOPS/FLOPS

Luka Doncic. If he lost 6 balls, the Slovenian still made rain and shine for his team, with his 7th triple-double of the season. In the end, his line of stats is very complete with 34 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists, 13/22 in shooting including 4/9 from afar and the best +/- of the match: +11!

Franz Wagner. He doesn’t really look like a rookie when the Magic throw him balls in isolation to get the win. 18 points at 9/15 in the end for him.

Dallas circle’s lack of protection. With Floridian shooters struggling (9/31 in aggregate for the trio Anthony – Suggs – Ross), the Magic insisted in the paint, where the absence of Kristaps Porzingis was felt. Access to the circle has long been far too easy for the Magic.
