While they were eager to play seven games in a row at Chase Center to settle into the Top 8 in the West, the Warriors are experiencing a nightmare period. Already humiliated by the Raptors on Sunday, teammates Stephen Curry hit rock bottom last night with a 36-point loss to the Pelicans. Like against Toronto, Steve Kerr's players were whistled by their own crowd!
“I don’t even know what to think about it because I don’t want to be a prisoner of this moment, and realize it, but it’s obvious that we are in difficulty” Curry testifies. “There's not much to celebrate, and the cheers have turned into boos. I don't take it over the leg. Honestly, I boo myself and whistle our team in my head given the way we played. That's how it is, the fans will react the way they want. It’s up to us to give them reason to rejoice and we haven’t done that.”
“Seeing how we’re playing, it’s deserved. We can't blame them.”
Over these seven home matches, the balance sheet is terrible: 2 victories – 5 defeats! The Warriors have plunged into the negative and are in 12th place in their conference!
“It’s a shame, but given how we’re playing, it’s deserved. We can't blame them.” reacts Kevon Looney. “The fans set the bar very high for us and we have set the bar very high here, and we have to be competitive when we step on the field. We have the talent and the elements to be better and we must show it. We were getting close, and now we're slipping a little bit… So we've got to refocus and regroup and try to pull ourselves together.”
As for Klay Thompson, he doesn't care about all that, and the whistles don't bother him. “I don't care…Are we supposed to lose sleep over this?” »
In the absence of sleep, the Warriors are losing a lot of credit with their public, and especially ground in the race for the playoffs.
