Stats & Highlights | The Rockets bring down Utah, another fall for the Wolves

The Rockets have finally opened their counter of victories, winning against Utah. In doing so, they also open the losing streak of the Jazz, which was still undefeated. Houston therefore launched its season.

Orlando is still waiting for that after four matches. Paolo Banchero remains solid and scores his 20 points, but the Knicks were too strong. Second victory in a row at home for Tom Thibodeau’s players.

Finally, Minnesota falls against San Antonio. This second match in two days was too much for Rudy Gobert and his band, disappointing and largely dominated by the Spurs.

Philadelphia–Indiana
Miami–Toronto
Chicago–Boston
Memphis–Brooklyn
Portland–Denver

New York–Orlando: 115-102

The matches follow one another and, for the moment, look alike for Paolo Banchero. The Magic rookie hit the 20-point mark again in New York for the fourth straight time, but he also lost again. The first choice of the last Draft was not adroit at 3-pts, like his teammates overall (7/35).

In the last quarter, the Floridians left a little hope, returning to six points less than five minutes from time. But Jalen Brunson then Mitchell Robinson rule out any possibility of winning and ensure New York’s victory. With 8 points, Evan Fournier was again very discreet and clumsy.

Houston-Utah: 114-108

Kevin Porter Jr. started the Rockets in the first quarter by scoring 10 points. And if Houston certainly had the controls, the first period was very imprecise, on both sides: 23 lost balls and 54 missed shots in total!

Despite that, the Texans held on to their lead after the break. Then, in the final 90 seconds, Mike Conley equalized. Eric Gordon restores the lead to Houston and Jabari Smith Jr. does not flinch on the free throw line, with a perfect 4/4 in the last 25 seconds of the game.

Minnesota–San Antonio: 106-115

Tired Wolves? Minnesota players had played and won the day before in Oklahoma City and they missed the start against San Antonio. The Spurs jumped at the throat of a shy Rudy Gobert, author of 11 points and 7 rebounds, with 39 points scored in the first quarter.

Minnesota suffers but returns before the break. In the second half, the same scenario as at the start of the first: the Texans unfold and the Wolves take on water. Gregg Popovich’s troops win this act by 32 points! Gobert and company reacted then, to reduce the gap, but it was too late.
