Stats & Highlights | The Hawks surprised, the Pelicans revive
March 20, 2023
The Hawks were 24 points ahead in San Antonio, but they will crack in the second half and bow. A defeat which could have been avoided, but which has no serious consequence in the standings.
On the other hand, the Pelicans’ victory against Houston is important for the franchise, which remained on two losses. With this success, New Orleans remains in the race for tenth place and the “play-in”, with the Lakers and the Jazz in particular.

San Antonio–Atlanta: 126-118
After suffering a comeback against the Grizzlies, it’s up to the Spurs to make a success of one. Gregg Popovich’s troops were up to 24 points behind Dejounte Murray, who was signing his return to Texas, and the Hawks.
Then, in the third quarter, Keldon Johnson went 14-4 with several 3-point shots to bring San Antonio back. The Spurs are much more skilful and the attack of Atlanta does not work any more. Blake Wesley, with less than four minutes remaining, gave his side the lead and Spurs went 14-0 in the final act to win.
Beaten at the buzzer by the Rockets a few days ago, the Pelicans took their revenge, with authority. An 18-6, worn by CJ McCollum, passed between the end of the first quarter and the start of the second is enough to take a lead of more than 15 points.
New Orleans will even have a 20-point lead at the break. Even if Jalen Green will chain the baskets (40 points), Houston will no longer be dangerous in the game. End of series for the Texans, who remained on three successes in a row.
