Sixers boss would like to convince James Harden to stay

For Kevin McHale who knows Daryl Morey very well and James Harden, for having rubbed shoulders with the Rockets, the current president of the Sixers is only executing the orders of his hierarchy. And if Morey did not offer Harden a new contract, or if he decided to put an end to discussions with the Clippers, it was at the request of his superiors, or at least with their agreement. Precisely, what is the point of view of Josh Harris, one of the owners of the Sixers?

“Listen, we’re doing our best”, he replied on the sidelines of a preseason meeting of the Washington Commanders (NFL) of which he is also co-owner. “I respect James. I obviously want to do what he wants. At the same time, I have to think about a team in contention for a title, what we can salvage. I would like to convince him to stay. I know that’s not what he wants to do right now. »

While Harden explained that relations with Morey had reached the point of no return, and that he would never again play in a franchise where Morey works, Harris assures that he will try to find a solution that satisfies both parties.

“I will continue to work to resolve this issue in a way that everyone can accept and that is positive for everyone. And this, whatever this resolution … I respect him as a basketball player and as a person. It comes back to relationships with people, and we have to be there. We’ll see where it all takes us. »
