Sami Whitcomb “Clutch” in the victory of Mercury in the Aces

Las Vegas has been going through a difficult period since his heavy defeat conceded on the Golden State prosecution ten days ago (95-68). Beaten at home by the Sparks then, the Ace this time fell against the Phoenix Mercuryalways at home.

The meeting was tightened from start to finish, even if Phoenix was racing in the lead, with the Young-Loyd-Gray trio on one side (15, 17 and 20 points) and on the other Alyssa Thomas, Satou Sabally And Sami Whitcomb. Sutou Sabally launched the first salvo in the second quarter with three 3-point baskets including a 3+1 to allow Phoenix to lead the debates at the break (39-43) after a balanced first act.

Mercury at good temperature until the end

The gap has climbed up to +11 for the Mercury after the rest following the 3-point stroke of Sami Whitcomb and Lexi Held (49-60). But Las Vegas hung on to the end to return several times to a gap possession, as on the last 3-point of Jewell Loyd (70-73).

But in the final, it was Sami Whitcomb who had the last word, with a shot halfway out at the screen outing, a step-back in the racket and especially a 3-point against the circle that sealed the victory in addition to airing the Michelob Ultra Arena, on a perfect service by Alyssa Thomas.

Las Vegas this time failed to answer and therefore bows 76-70 on his field. Suffice to say that the return of A'ja Wilson, touched on the head and absent for two games, will be expected, while Las Vegas will have to chain three delicate games, in Minnesota tomorrow, then at home against Seattle and Indiana.

For his part, Phoenix will continue his “road trip” to Connecticut on Wednesday before going to New York and then Chicago.
