Rudy Gobert’s “immature” and “unacceptable” technical foul costs the Wolves dearly

“A technical foul 27 seconds from the end of the match is unacceptable. Rudy is like that, but you have to be smart. He made a gesture that would automatically be punished. He was obviously frustrated – both teams were – but we have to be smarter.”

Having taken over from the ill Chris Finch on the Wolves bench, Micah Nori doesn't mince his words towards Rudy Gobert. Against the Cavaliers, the Frenchman weighed down his team by rubbing his fingers after a whistle from Scott Foster. This is not the first time that a player has made this type of gesture towards a referee, but when it is 27 seconds from the end of a very close match, and we have just taken our 6th foul, it's embarassing ! Especially since the Cavaliers will take advantage of the free throw awarded to equalize, before winning in overtime.

“I cost my team the match”

“I'm still going to have to grit my teeth… I'm going to be the bad guy in the story… I'm going to accept the fine, but I think it hurts the sport” Rudy Gobert defends himself. “I know sports betting is becoming more and more important, but that shouldn’t be the case.”

Is Rudy Gobert implying that Scott Foster's whistles are influenced by bets? And so that the referee, who was close to Tim Donaghyis corrupt?

“Beting can have a significant impact on the outcome of matches” he repeats, before recognizing that the timing was not smart. “I think I was right with my reaction, but it wasn't the right time to do it. I cost my team the match. It was an immature reaction. »

For the Frenchman, the referees were bad all evening. “It's not just a whistle…Everyone makes mistakes, except this one it was all the time, over and over again, and of course it's frustrating. »

It remains to be seen how the NBA will react, the criticism of Rudy Gobert will obviously earn him a fine, but the gesture and the innuendoes about money and sports betting could seriously inflate it…
