Overtime approaching for Kristaps Porzingis and Kyle Kuzma?

In the midst of a disappointing new season, the Wizards are preparing to make some strong decisions in the upcoming offseason, and the ambition would be to rely on the hard core of the team. According to The Athletic, Kristaps Porzingis is thus in very advanced discussions with the franchise to extend its adventure in the capital. The Latvian has a ” player option » of 36 million dollars next season, an option which he should decline in order to sign a new long-term contract with the Wizards, who have the possibility of offering him up to 180 million dollars over 4 years.

Finally rid of his many physical glitches, Kristaps Porzingis had a very good season with 23.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.5 blocks at 50% shooting including 38.5% from 3-pointers. Same satisfaction of managers for Kyle Kuzmasince our colleagues confirm that the latter should also decline its “player option” worth 13 million dollars in order to test the market this summer.

The former Lakers player is having his career-best season with 21.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game and the Wizards should offer him a very big contract. It is probably because the franchise and the player are on the same wavelength that the former Lakers winger was not transferred last February.

Player option : possibility for a player to activate (or not) the last year of his contract, in order to end his lease or become free agent a year in advance.
