Nate McMillan considered quitting…

The changes may not be over in Atlanta. While Travis Schlenk recently handed over to Landry Fields as the club’s sporting boss, The Athletic Announces that Nate McMillan thought about quitting.

Finally, the coach has for the moment ruled out the idea and he should end the season at the head of the team.

However, the recruitment of Dejounte Murray is not really bearing fruit, since the team remains in the soft underbelly of the standings, in 9th place in the Eastern Conference (17 wins – 18 losses). Above all, Nate McMillan’s relationship with his players, and in particular Trae Young, does not necessarily seem ideal…

Recently, the former Soncis player, who became coach of the Soncis, the Blazers and then the Pacers, had admitted having difficulty getting used to this new generation of players.

“I coach a different generation, compared to the one I played with and started coaching”explained the one who began his career on the benches as an assistant in 1998, before becoming a “head coach” in 2000. “It’s different in the way of communicating, playing and seeing the game. Players see the game differently, compared to when I was playing and when I started coaching.”

What explains that the McMillan method, which helped the Hawks reach the conference final in 2021, just after taking office in place of Lloyd Pierce, does not seem to work since?
