Monty Williams turned down an offer from the Pistons

Since the last day of the regular season, the Pistons no longer have a coach, and six weeks later, they still have not named Dwane Casey’s successor. Their research focused on three technicians: Charles Lee (assistant to the Bucks), Kevin Ollie (Overtime Elite coach, ex-UConn coach) and Jarron Collins (Pelicans assistant). So far, they haven’t made their choice.

Perhaps because they were waiting for the “lottery” but also, and above all, because things have changed a lot elsewhere since the Bucks, Suns, Raptors and Sixers have parted ways with their coaches. Exactly, Mark Stein reports that Detroit contacted Monty Williams, but that the latter did not follow up. The former Suns coach still had a three-year, $20 million deal, and he can see it coming.

Still according to our colleague, it is Ollie who holds the rope to succeed Casey on the bench of the Pistons.
