Miles Bridges, the other hot shot of the evening | NBA

As in his “Garden” in New York, Miles Bridges offered a career record on the legendary floor of the Knicks on the occasion of MLK Day yesterday. Like Nicolas Batum, who warmed up by scoring 32 in the second half, the Charlotte winger cracked 28 points in the first 18 minutes of play!

A real festival of efficiency marked by his series of 3-pointers and drives concluded with forceps which allowed the Hornets to start on the right foot, with 28 of the 45 points scored by his team 6 minutes from the break (33-45 ), and to stay the course until the end to win 97-87.

“He was incredible, at a high level of performance”, underlined James Borrego after the meeting. “His confidence, the mindset he played with led us to this win. I thought Terry (Rozier) also helped control the game well, but Miles was fantastic”.

Full of confidence after a little slack

Author of 38 points (14/20 shooting, 5/9 from 3-points), 12 rebounds and 5 assists in 39 minutes, Miles Bridges confirmed that his performance brought him “ a big confidence boost”, who also admitted to having gone through a more difficult period lately after his thunderous start to the season.

“I feel like I’ve just come out of a bad patch since Christmas. I feel like I’m back on top now.”, did he declare. My teammates did a great job, whether it was Gordon (Hayward), LaMelo (Ball) or Terry (Rozier), of being on my back, telling me to stay aggressive, and it paid off tonight. I just want to keep improving and stay aggressive for my team.”.

If the second part of last season was synonymous with difficulties with the successive injuries of LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward, it at least allowed Miles Bridges to play more with the ball in hand.

Pass the bar of 33% of address to 3-points

This season, the winger is more comfortable in this particular aspect. And in the absence of LaMelo Ball yesterday, he quickly stood out, so the Hornets continued to showcase him.

“It’s true that we gave him the ball a lot”, added James Borrego. “We have a lot of guys that we can play through in attack. But we found something we like, so we’re playing with this guy. And Miles is that kind of player who can also create. He’s an elite finisher near the circle, but getting the ball in his hands you know he can create, come out for a teammate, or finish on his own. I found that he had a great balance tonight on that, between scoring and creation”.

His performance was notably facilitated by his outside address at the start of the game, his 3-point reliability remaining for the moment one of his weak points while he is still running below 33% success this season.

“It completely opens up the game for him, and it becomes complicated for the opponent”, continued James Borrego. “If you put pressure on him, he will go to the circle, and if you step back, he will be able to sanction 3-points (…). It’s a tough combination to find in today’s basketball, especially for a player of his power and size. When he gets his 3-pointers, he becomes really hard to defend.
