Lonzo Ball and Zach LaVine out for at least three more games | NBA

Chicago returned to winning ways tonight when they hosted the Cavs. A success which will however not be accompanied by additional good news since Billy Donovan announced after the meeting that Lonzo Ball and Zach LaVine were going to stay in “Windy City” to treat their knee problems while the Bulls will attack a “road trip” of three games in Milwaukee, Orlando and Oklahoma City.

Both players have been out since losing at home to the Warriors last Friday. The Chicago coach spoke about the very different evolution of the two cases, starting with Lonzo Ball who actually suffered from a tear in the meniscus and who is looking for the best treatment.

According to The Athletic, he could play with it, but if the pain is too bothersome, an operation will be necessary, which would then put him on the sidelines for a few weeks…

“Right now, we’re just trying to help him recover. When he was on the road with us and didn’t play in Boston, he got treatment that he didn’t respond to very well. He has since seen a doctor, there is another round of treatment going on. We’ll probably know more once we see how he reacts to it.”, explained Billy Donovan, adding that the possibility of seeing his leader pass on the billiards was not yet on the agenda. “For many it will depend on how he responds to the treatment he is receiving at the moment.”

Zach LaVine was able to resume training at a still very light pace. After the alert received against the Warriors about a pain that had begun to bother him some time ago, Billy Donovan does not want to take any risks with his leader and second best scorer behind DeMar DeRozan.

“He reacted well. I don’t have a return date for him yet at this point, but he’s definitely feeling a lot better today than he was when he came out of the game against Golden State.”, he said.
