Lakers sign Tristan Thompson for playoffs

We wondered if the Lakers were going to use their last vacant spot to recruit an interior as the playoffs approached and that’s finally what they decided to do. As indicated by ESPN, Tristan Thompson (9.0 points and 8.4 career average rebounds) has just signed with the “Purple & Gold” until the end of the season.

A reinforcement of experience for Los Angeles, because the 32-year-old pivot has been a regular in long playoff campaigns since his years spent in Cleveland, alongside LeBron James. Consultant for a few months and recently tested by his new team, the Canadian comes to support Anthony Davis, Jarred Vanderbilt, Mo Bamba and Wenyen Gabriel in the California racket. He hasn’t been seen in the league since his time at Indiana and Chicago in 2021/22 (6.0 points and 5.1 rebounds on average).

Tristan Thompson is not the only one to join the Lakers for this end of the season, because Shaquille Harrison was also recruited by the leaders of LA. Renowned for his defensive qualities and able to play at the lead or at the back, the 29-year-old player has just finished a ten-day freelance with the Blazers, where he shot 8.8 points, 6.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 average interceptions.

To make room for Tristan Thompson and Shaquille Harrison, however, Los Angeles had to part with Davon Reed, picked up from Denver at the “trade deadline” and who had only played a few games here and there with the “Purple & Gold”.
