Kemba Walker’s career has been on a downward spiral since leaving Charlotte in 2019.
The point guard had everything going for him at the Hornets, but while Charlotte was reluctant to offer him a very big contract, the big check and the prospect of playing for the title in Boston lured him away from North Carolina. Even if Kemba Walker has never managed to evolve there at the same level as during his best years in Charlotte.
Worse, his repeated knee injuries gradually sidelined him, where his impact waned as experiences at Boston, the Knicks, and now the Pistons, who begged him to find a new challenge.
Still waiting
While waiting to find a new base, and therefore to be able to negotiate his “buyout” with Detroit, the leader was in Greensboro on Friday to attend the meeting between Charlotte and Boston. The opportunity to be presented by the announcer and to test his popularity rating, still intact, with fans of his favorite franchise.
“It was great. It was quite unexpected to receive the love I have received since being here, it was special. And it feels good to feel that love, to be honest. I hadn’t felt it in a while. It feels good “, he confided aside from the meeting.
The leader also gave his news, explaining that he wanted to show that he is not finished, at just 32 years old.
“I still have some in the tank, that’s for sure. I fight and try to feel as good as possible. And right now, I feel good. I haven’t felt this good in a long time. I’m just waiting for my chance”he added. “I just want to be able to play basketball again.”
The time to clarify that he had no problem with the idea of playing a smaller role and making sacrifices to succeed in reintegrating a “roster”, Kemba Walker also slipped that he would see himself returning to the Hornets.
Why not end his career there?
“It would be special. Regarding the end of my career, I still have a few years left in my opinion. I don’t think about that yet. But yes, we will see. I’m just waiting. Nobody contacted me, so let’s wait”.
