The president of the national federation, Rafael Uribe, had recently estimated that Karl-Anthony Towns had a 90% chance of participating in the World Cup with the Dominican Republic. There was therefore 10% left to discard and it was the player himself who undertook to do so.
The Wolves interior left a video message on his Instagram account to formalize his presence at the World Cup. It is an event because the All-Star has not worn the national jersey for more than ten years.
“I have great news to announce: I am proud to be able to say that I will soon be dressed to represent my roots, the Dominican Republic. Representing my mother’s country, my country, goes beyond sport. I can’t wait to wear this shirt again and play in the World Cup. See you in the Philippines. »
As a reminder, the Dominican Republic is in Group A along with Italy, Angola and the Philippines. Perhaps this decision will encourage Al Horford to imitate him to form one of the best pairs of interiors in the competition!
