Jordan Poole (41 points) catches fire at Madison Square Garden!

He announced the color from the first seconds of play. After putting the leather up, Jordan Poole sent a missile with first intention, a good meter behind the arc, which made a splash. This award-winning shot was a precursor to the former Warriors player’s great evening at Madison Square Garden, and his Wizards easy winners over the Knicks (106-131).

The guard followed up with several finishes at the circle and a number of converted free throws. Before signing a fiery end to the first period, with 3-point baskets as spectacular as the first. Including a last missile off balance and on one foot, despite the defense of RJ Barrett who had nevertheless bitten his initial feint. A contested shot despite two open teammates, including Deni Advija who did not did not hide his frustration on this sequence…

But the “Poole party” had started. At the break, the crazy shooter had already scored 29 points against the opposing defense, which was decidedly uninspired during this pre-season.

Poole ties a franchise record of…Michael Jordan

In the absence of Kyle Kuzma, Jordan Poole continued his festival to exceed the 40 point mark. To the point of equaling an old franchise record. His 41 points (10/19 on shots including 6/12 from distance, 15/16 on free throws), in 27 minutes, are the highest total for a Wizards player in pre-season since Michael Jordan against the Nets in October 2001. Enough to already attract comparisons with James Harden from the New York presswhich makes him a natural candidate for the MIP.

With the performance of their new leader, who remained on a meager outing against the Hornets (11 points to 2/13), and the 20 points of Mike Muscala coming off the bench, the visitors won easily after dominating the debates in the second and fourth quarters. Despite a Bilal Coulibaly clumsy, the Wizards thus signed their third victory in as many preseason meetings.

On the Knicks side, the statistical production of the starters, including the double double of Julius Randle (20 points and 10 rebounds), was far from sufficient. As well as the contribution of the men from the bench, most of them finishing with hyper negative ratios when they were in play. LikeEvan Fournier2/5 on shots in 14 minutes.
