Jazz – Kings: a “Jordanesque” Clarkson!

No Rudy Gobert or Mike Conley in between, but the Jazz sign a 9th success in a row at home. The day after a surprise setback in San Antonio, Utah reacted perfectly by winning 134-125 against Sacramento. A success signed by the hand of Jordan Clarkson who planted 45 points off the bench!

Rudy Gobert absent, the Jazz had chosen to run but difficult to stand up to De’Aaron Fox. Under his leadership, Sacramento got off to a great start with 42 points scored at 73% in the first quarter. It’s going too fast for the Jazz, and we have to wait for a hot 3-point shot from Jordan Clarkson for Quin Snyder’s men to pass in front at the break (71-67).

De’Aaron Fox is freewheeling but the Jazz have more response, and Danuel House and Bojan Bogdanovic find the target. The Jazz collective begins to take over, and Donovan Mitchell gets his hands on the game. At his side, Clarkson continues his festival, and he gives the Jazz a 10-point lead (90-80). The start of the 4th quarter turns squarely into a duel between Fox and Clarkson, and it is the 6th man from the Jazz who makes the difference to bring the gap to +16 (111-95). There are ten minutes left to play.

We think it’s folded but Davion Mitchell goes 11-0 to bring the Kings down to five units. But Clarkson is still there to give a last push with the help of Bogdanovic for 3-pointers and Whiteside for two dunks. Final victory 134-125 for Utah which retains its 4th place in the West.

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

– An offensive five in Utah. Gobert and Conley absent, Quin Snyder had chosen to establish Daniel House Jr and Hassan Whiteside to give the direction of the game to Donovan Mitchell. Defensively, it was not terrible but we have rarely seen the Jazz run so much this season.

– Double record for Clarkson. With 45 points, Jordan Clarkson sets a new career high, but he also seizes a franchise record since a substitute had never scored so many points. This is the 4th time he has reached the 40-point mark in his career.

TOPS/FLOPS

Jordan Clarkson. The 6th Jazz man scored 45 points in 21 shots! While he has never been so clumsy in his career, he ends the game with an 8/8 from 2-pointers and a 7/13 from 3-pointers. And some shots were really complicated… We will also remember his vista to serve Bogdanovic in the “money time”.

Hassan Whiteside. In a completely different style than Rudy Gobert, Hassan Whiteside weighed in on the debates with 12 points and 21 rebounds. A real undermining, especially in the last quarter. He also took the opportunity to set a career record with his 21 catches.

De’Aaron Fox. Second game at 40 points and more in eight days for the Kings point guard. His speed makes him really unstoppable at times, and his first quarter is incredible. The problem is that he sometimes seems cut off from his teammates.

Donovan Mitchell. Even though Fox put him in trouble, Mitchell was very good at managing the game. He didn’t force anything, and he looked to get others to play.

Richaun Holmes. Domantas Sabonis absent, Holmes had the opportunity to show himself. Like his painting partners, he got eaten by Whiteside. Worse, he gets expelled.
