Jarrett Allen is proud to be posterized

Without a defender, and even an attempt to counter, no “post dunk”. The more aggressive the defense, the more a dunk is valued. It is for this reason that Jarrett Allen does not care to end up in the Top 10 and the highlights in the role of “posterized”.

“That’s my job…and it’s to protect the circle by any means possible.” There are positives and negatives” he tells Cleveland.com. “We find ourselves in the highlights for both reasons, and I find myself there on each side of the field. But in the end, I am proud of this work. That’s what helps my team win. That’s what I do. It’s a state of mind. I will continue to go against, and what will happen will happen. »

Even if he does not have the reputation of being a great blocker, the pivot of Cleveland inevitably intimidates by his stature and his “athletic” qualities. He is at the heart of one of the best defenses in the country, and his coach appreciates his mentality.

“I think he sees things the right way. It’s a dunk, and that’s it. Who cares? » asks JB Bickerstaff. “He’s going to keep challenging them, and that’s what needs to be done. We don’t make a big deal out of it when it’s only two points. It’s like a lay-up or a shot. Jarrett is aware of this. He knows how many shots he’s deflected or changed course, and how many he’s caught. He is aware of his responsibilities in the team, and he intends to do so every night. »

For Allen, these endless poster dunks don’t overshadow his job: “You see these dunks everywhere… I value what I do for the team more than the consequences that result. »
