James Harden joins the Sixers in exchange for Ben Simmons! | NBA

Daryl Morey’s patience paid off. The GM of the Sixers did not rush to transfer Ben Simmons and now James Harden’s frustration in Brooklyn allows him to recover his former player!

Philadelphia thus gets its hands on the 2018 MVP in exchange for the Australian, who has not been seen on an NBA court since the last playoffs. Seth Curry and Andre Drummond also join the Nets, along with two first-round draft picks, one unprotected in 2022 and one protected in 2027.

Brooklyn takes the opportunity to get rid of Paul Millsap, who therefore accompanies James Harden to Pennsylvania.

The Nets have therefore limited the damage by recovering one of the best defenders in the league, even if Ben Simmons will have to regain physical condition, especially since we still do not know if he is fit to play mentally. Seth Curry will compensate him for the loss of Joe Harris when Andre Drummond will bring a presence under the circle.

With the two “first rounds” of the Draft, Brooklyn is also making up for everything the franchise gave just a year ago to get their hands on James Harden. It is recalled that the New York club had thus released at the time Jarrett Allen, Caris LeVert, Aleksandar Vezenkov, Taurean Prince, Rodions Kurucs as well as its “first round” of Draft in 2022, 2024 and 2026, but also the possibility for Houston to “swap” (i.e., swap their respective draft picks) in the first round in 2023, 2025 and 2027.

For Philadelphia, this trade forms a Harden/Embiid duo that is quite frightening. The leader has also activated his “player option” at 47.3 million dollars in the wake of the trade, so as not to be a free agent next summer.
