In demonstration, Luka Doncic and the Mavericks stop the Grizzlies | NBA

That’s what’s called ending an opponent’s winning streak in style! While the Grizzlies presented themselves with a good series of eleven consecutive successes, Dallas had no complex to visit them to give them an equally nice spanking.

The visitors had however not taken the best of the starts by finding themselves led by 9 units at the end of the first quarter (27-18). Dallas had no trouble coming back in the second, which did not prevent Ja Morant and his team from turning with a slight lead at the break (55-50). Everything that followed was much more complicated for the locals.

Very well taken by the Texas defense, the Grizzlies began to stammer their basketball. The Mavs, carried by the pair Luka Doncic – Jalen Brunson, did exactly the opposite to largely dominate the third quarter and offer themselves more than ten points in advance (73-84).

The concern for Memphis is that this dominance continued into the final act. Unable to regain lucidity in attack, the Grizzlies had just as much trouble containing a perfect Luka Doncic on shots to finish. The “garbage time”, with a Marquese Chriss transformed into a dunk machine, allowed Dallas to count up to 31 points in advance…

WHAT YOU MUST REMEMBER

The Mavs second half. It turned into a demonstration in favor of the Texans with a dizzying score differential in their favor: +32 (+16 in each quarter)! In addition to good streaks in attack, the Mavs have especially shone with their defense, inviting their opponents to shoot outside. Which allowed them to score a bunch of points on the counterattack (23) against a defense in transition from the Grizzlies not up to scratch.

The amazing point difference inside. Neither team shone behind the 3-point line (less than 25% overall). Dallas, on the other hand, feasted on the opponent’s racket by scoring… 72 points. Ironically, they signed that production against the highest-scoring team in the entire league. Grizzlies who still scored 50 points in this context, which is slightly below their average for the season (55).

The Grizzlies’ Worst Offensive Performance. How many times has the inside rolling after pick-and-roll not been served? The Grizzlies have sometimes neglected their interiors, like Steven Adams who came off the bench last night, and above all forgot to attack the circle to settle for shooting from the periphery. The concern is whether it’s half-distance or 3-point, they’ve never settled on the crosshairs. Result: with only 19 assists, 38% success and therefore 85 points scored, Memphis signed its worst offensive performance of the year.

TOPS/FLOPS

Luka Doncic. A recital in the second half! Unable to return a winning shot, the Slovenian largely compensated with his shots from mid-range, most often on one leg and backwards. He has shown formidable efficiency in the last two quarters (8/10 on shots) while continuing to create for his teammates. He signed his 10th assist of the evening, synonymous with his 40th career triple-double, on a sublime back pass for Dwight Powell’s dunk after a “pick-and-roll”.

Jalen Brunson. The perfect relay from the leader of Dallas. When the Slovenian joined the bench to breathe, Jalen Bruson took care of taking control of the Mavs attack brilliantly. Active in defense with his five interceptions, he especially shone for his finishes and his good balls given in the transition game. He finished a small assist from his 6th double-double this season.

Ja Morant. His team’s top scorer and passer, he did not give the impression of dominating as usual. He suffered a lot in the second half where the Mavs defense was waiting for him in the key. Pushed into two baseline grapples, he struggled to find his teammates after jumping. The point guard thus cost his team eight possessions.

Jaren Jackson Jr.. An ordeal in attack! Not content to lack success under the circle, the interior also insisted with his 3-point shot, without shining more. He thus signed a terrible 0/6 in the last quarter, sometimes giving the impression of trying without his luck on principle, and not of shooting to score.
