G League | Moussa Diabaté’s Clippers win the Winter Showcase Cup

The Winter Showcase Cup final pitted the Ontario Clippers against the Windy City Bulls in the G-League. The mid-season tournament is supposed to provide exposure for players who participate. We may therefore hear again about Daniel Oturu on the Chicago side or the pair Xavier Moon – Brandon Boston Jr at the Clippers.

In a match organized with the Elam Ending, the suspense was complete until the end and it was even Chicago who first glimpsed the final victory by leading 95-93. But Xavier Moon decided otherwise, scoring his team’s last three baskets, including the winning one, scored on the head of insider Daniel Oturu. Along with the win and the trophy, the Ontario Clippers also took home $100,000.

With his 17 points and his final full of composure, Xavier Moon deserved to be elected MVP, but it was Brandon Boston Jr who was named for all his work (21 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists decisive).

“It was incredible. I’m not going to lie, my team has great confidence in me, and I have confidence in them. Our bond is crazy. We leaned on each other, and I did what I could to earn that money.”, said Brandon Boston Jr. after the match, before dedicating the victory to Xavier Moon. “It is the head of the serpent, the one that brings the energy. He’s the oldest, so he really came in ready, and we all had faith in him to put his shots. He wears them every day. So as soon as he got the ball, I yelled ‘kill ’em, kill ’em and he did”.

Note that the French Moussa Diabaté has accumulated 17 points and 8 rebounds. The Clippers’ other two-way contract, Moses Brown, did not take part in the meeting.
