Domestic violence: Miles Bridges pleads guilty and avoids prison

Imported into France a few years ago, the “guilty plea” allows the United States to a defendant to negotiate his sanction and avoid serving the maximum sentence. That’s what finally chose Miles Bridges, accused of domestic violence since the beginning of the summer. The Hornets winger, protected free agent, receives a three-year suspended prison sentence, and he will therefore be able to resume his career without going through prison. He faced up to 12 years in prison!

Until now, Bridges had always refuted the charges and his trial had been postponed several times. During his suspended sentence, Bridges will have to complete 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling and 52 weeks of parenting classes, as well as complete 100 hours of community service and undergo weekly narcotics tests.

During this period, ESPN adds that he cannot possess firearms or ammunition or dangerous weapons. He will also have to pay a restitution fine of $300 and a fine of $500 for domestic violence. Finally, for 10 years, he must not approach within 100 meters of the mother of his children, nor come into contact with her. Bridges and his ex-girlfriend retain joint custody of their two children, and any visitation or exchange of children must be through a neutral third party.
