A month and a half ago, before the Draft, Derrick Jones Jr. had decided not to activate his “player option” at 3.36 million dollars with the Bulls to test the transfer market, and thus find a better contract and above all a better salary. Unfortunately for him, his research was not very fruitful, and The Athletic announces that he will have to settle for a one-year contract in Dallas. It’s better than nothing, and more importantly, it’s fully guaranteed.
A hyper-athletic strong winger, Jones will bring his speed and size to position 4, taking over from Grant Williams and Maxi Kleber. On paper, Dallas hasn’t replaced Christian Wood, and still only has the aging JaVale McGee as a true 5 to protect the circle.
