Dennis Schröder explains why he chose the Raptors

MVP of the 2023 World Cup, Dennis Schröder is the big man of this summer, and he will arrive in Toronto with his trophy, crowned with the title of world champion. If he manages to maintain the same leadership and the same level of play, he will be a recruit of choice for the Raptors, orphans of Fred VanVleet.

The good news for the leaders is that the German absolutely wanted to play in Toronto, and he explains why.

“Because of Darko (Rajakovic), the coach” he responds on ESPN. “I met him five years ago in OKC. I loved the way he coached myself and others. We became friends. I clearly told my agent that I wanted to go there. That it was going to stick, and that I wanted to get rid of all that. »

Play like a national team

Before the Germany – Serbia final, Dennis Schroder explained that he and Darko Rajakovic were in constant contact during the competition.

“He texted me every day, and before the game he wished me luck.” he said. “He told me: ‘I hope you play well, but Serbia will win. » We made a bet, and we’ll see what happens. »

More seriously, Dennis Schroder is delighted to play for a European coach. “I think it’s good to play like the national team, to have the ball in hand more… The fact of getting the ball out quickly, and running. The defense… I think that suits me. »
