Andrew Wiggins in the infirmary longer than expected

No Christmas game for Andrew Wiggins. While the Warriors imagined relaunching their winger against the Grizzlies, the Californians finally had to do without him for the tenth game in a row. Suffering from a contracture in the adductors, he has not played since December 3 and his best outing of the year (36 points) against the Rockets.

Steve Kerr, who initially thought the injury was nothing serious, said his recovery was taking longer than expected. When the former Wolves player was cleared to return to training on December 15, there was optimism that he would be available for that game against the Grizzlies.

You have to be careful with this kind of injury. (Doctor) told us that if we brought him back too soon and he re-injured himself, he could be out for a month. So we try to be careful and give him a day or two more, whatever it takes for him to come back. So we hope he will play soon, but I can’t tell you exactly when. », said Steve Kerr.

In this series of ten games played, the Warriors, also partially deprived of Stephen Curry on this sequence, won only three games. Including his two previous absences earlier in the season, the Californians are posting a poor record at three wins in twelve games without Andrew Wiggins this year.

The latter is having his best scoring season since playing in San Francisco, with an average of 19 points. We will especially remember his best career skill percentage (51% on shots including 45% from afar, but only 63% on free throws).
