The “training camp” process does no one a favor, let alone the Lakers who are always looking for the best possible element to take on the role of 15th player in the workforce. We know since yesterday that Dwayne Bacon is no longer in the race, just like Javante McCoy.
The two players invited to show themselves during the training camp obviously did not satisfy Darvin Ham since they were dismissed yesterday. It was the first time that Dwayne Bacon, who played with Monaco last season, attempted to return to the NBA after being cut by the Magic in August 2021. He ended up only playing 17 minutes in the first two games of Lakers preseason.
The two players were replaced in the process by LJ Figueroa, a winger coming out of a G-League season at the Santa Cruz Warriors, and fullback Shaquille Harrison, already seen at the Suns, Bulls, Jazz, Nuggets and the Nets (175 career NBA games). The two players under contract “Exhibit-10” could continue the exercise in the G-League with the South Bay Lakers at the end of the preseason.
Difficult to predict what awaits Dwayne Bacon now, between a new season in Europe, the G-League or the hope of a new opportunity, in another camp, with the aim of reintegrating an NBA roster.
