Like every year, the announcement of the replacements for the All-Star Game launches the eternal debates on the “snubbed”.
The 2022 event is obviously no exception to the rule, since some have already been indignant at the absences of LaMelo Ball (Hornets), Dejounte Murray (Spurs), Jrue Holiday (Bucks), Jaylen Brown (Celtics), Tyler Herro (Heat ), Anthony Edwards (Wolves), Paul George (Clippers), Pascal Siakam (Raptors) or even Jarrett Allen (Cavaliers).
If there will of course never be room for everyone, two names among these different unfortunates of an evening will have the possibility of being drafted by Adam Silver, “thanks” to the injuries of Kevin Durant and Draymond Green. A blessing in disguise, therefore, which should be able to bring a smile to some fans.
It remains to be seen who will be chosen to replace, in each conference, the winger of the Nets and the strong winger of the Warriors, whose packages for this 71st edition of the star game were expected.
LaMelo Ball, Dejounte Murray and Jarrett Allen in “pole position”
On paper, and as the replacements for the injured are not chosen with position for position, some players seem to leave with a small head start: Dejounte Murray, Anthony Edwards, Jaren Jackson Jr. (even Anthony Davis) at the West as well as LaMelo Ball, Tyler Herro, Jarrett Allen and Miles Bridges in the East.
Dejounte Murray in the West and LaMelo Ball in the East are undoubtedly the favorites but can Adam Silver surprise by sending, on the one hand, a second Grizzly or a second Wolf to the All-Star Game and, on the other hand, to send a second representative of the Cavs on the floor of Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, in addition to Darius Garland?
