All-Star Game 2022 | Audiences on the rise | NBA

Broadcast on TNT and TBS in the United States, the 2022 All-Star Game brought together 6.28 million Americans in front of their small screen, and this is in clear progression compared to 2021 (5.94 million viewers). On the other hand, it is far below the 2020 edition, marked by the tribute to Kobe Bryant, with its 7.3 million viewers.

On average, during the previous decade, the All-Star Game attracted around 7.6 million viewers per edition, and if overall, this may not seem like a lot compared to other sporting events, it is quite simply because since 2003, the All- Star Game is no longer broadcast on the national network, but on the cable network. Without forgetting of course the impact of the League Pass and the overall erosion of TV audiences.

This weekend, the All-Star Game also suffered from competition with the Daytona 500. The famous car race in NASCAR ends with an average audience of 8.87 million viewers on FOX. But the NBA is number 1 on several targets: 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.
