A touch of Celtics in the football club of Atalanta Bergamo | NBA

A little green in the blacks and blues. Atalanta Bergamo has just announced a partnership agreement concluded between the Percassi family, current owner, and a group of investors led by Steve Pagliuca, co-owner of the Boston Celtics and co-chairman of Bain Capital, one of the world’s leading investment funds.

The agreement provides for the entry of new investors, for approximately 500 million dollars, with a total participation of 55% in the share capital of “La Dea”, while the Percassi family will retain a 45% participation. The Dea is the sub-holding of the Percassi family, which holds around 86% of Atalanta’s share capital.

Antonio Percassi and Luca Percassi will retain their respective roles as club chairman and chief executive, while Stephen Pagliuca will be named co-chairman.

Atalanta and the Boston Celtics share common sporting values: teamwork and an extraordinary relationship with fans and the communitysaid the Celtics leader. We believe the Percassi family has built a very solid foundation on which to work together to strengthen the brand globally, with the aim of encouraging diversification and revenue growth, enabling the club to become increasingly competitive in the Italian and international scene.

With this operation, Antonio Percassi wanted ” remain committed to the club which, over the last ten years, has achieved exceptional results, which no one could have expected from a ‘provincial’ team “.

Currently 5th in Calcio, Atalanta has finished three seasons in a row in third place in the Italian championship. On the European scene, the club reached the knockout stages of the Champions League last year, losing to Real Madrid, and the quarterfinals the previous year when their course was stopped by PSG.
