A security issue delayed the meeting between the Spurs and the Jazz

Thank you for your patience. This thank you was posted on the giant central panel of the AT&T Center to alert of a delay in the start of the meeting between Spurs and Jazz. In question, a potential security threat that impacted fans entering Spurs’ lair.

Players and staff from both teams, venue employees and a few thousand supporters were already inside when the announcement was made. No one was evacuated, but no other supporters were allowed in for about half an hour.

Fans were allowed to re-enter after law enforcement determined there was no threat, resulting in a 40-minute delay to the start of the game.

A spokesperson from the local sheriff’s office confirmed that the officials had received a report concerning a trash can, which forced the local authorities and the NBA to follow a protocol of closure, at the level of parking lots and access to the room in particular.

We apologize to all of our fans who experienced delays entering the AT&T Center tonight. The safety of our guests is always of the utmost importance. We’re glad tonight’s issue has been resolved. Spurs general manager RC Buford said in a statement.

We were about to run out of the tunnel to warm up, but they told us to go back to the locker room. It’s something weird. It’s the first time I’ve experienced this but I think the guys have been good at staying focused “Said Lauri Markkanen, the game’s top scorer (32 points).
