Triston Casas is open to signing a long-term contract extension in Boston

In recent years, the Boston Red Sox have lost the services of Mookie Betts as well as those of Xander Boagerts, to name a few. It also came close to Rafael Devers suffering the same fate.

Has Chaim Bloom and his flock learned their lesson? Only the future will tell us. But the future is not so far off for some, including Triston Casas.

The young prospect spoke with WEEI Network’s Rob Bradford and said he was open to discussing a long-term contract extension with the Red Stockings.

“I would love to stay in Boston the rest of my life. I like the city. I don’t know of anywhere else. »

The question is whether the Sox are open to the same right now. The principal concerned responds clearly.

“Nobody approached me about it. And my reps never even told Chaim Bloom about it, or anyone on the HQ. I’m just focused on playing this year and we’ll see where it takes us. I hope we will come to something. »

Bloom therefore seems to speak out of both sides of his mouth (it would not be a first), he who had clearly indicated that one of the priorities of the Red Sox would be to sign their young talents for the long term.

There is still time for the director of baseball operations of the Boston formation to conclude a pact, but let’s say that his room for maneuver vis-à-vis the fan base is very slim.
