The Red Sox needed a player like Justin Turner

As we know, the 2023 season will be a difficult one, very difficult even, for the Boston Red Sox and their many supporters. However, this does not prevent the Boston team from adding a few pillars to solidify this shaky building.

And that’s what Chaim Bloom did when he got his hands on veterans Justin Turner and Kenley Jansen.

If for the latter, it was easy for Kike Hernandez to convince him, it was quite different for Turner.

With JT, it was much more difficult. I expect Chaim to pay me a recruiting bonus for the process. It’s something I’m proud to have been able to pull him away from LA after all he’s done for this team, this city.

Turner will help change the culture in a locker room that will need it badly, and that’s why Hernandez worked hard to bring the third baseman to Boston.

He’s a guy who’s gonna help turn this clubhouse around. We are going to be very different this year and we need it. I felt we needed guys who weren’t just good on the pitch, but had the ability to change the culture in the dressing room. And I know for a fact he’s a guy who can do that.

Who says arrival, also says departure. Indeed, for their part, the Los Angeles Dodgers lose an important cog, they who will not have a 2023 campaign of any rest. They may very well realize that Turner may have had more of an impact than they thought.

Be that as it may, despite all the criticism directed at Bloom, criticism absolutely justified, we must admit that stealing him from the Dodgers has been one of his good moves this offseason.
