The Mets get their hands on Tommy Pham

It was an open secret, the New York Mets had been trying to solidify their depth in the outfield for several weeks.

But now it’s done. Indeed, the formation of Queens and outfielder Tommy Pham have agreed on terms of one year and a value of 6 million dollars. The latter will also be able to earn an additional $2 million in bonuses.

The agreement will become official when the outfielder has passed his physical tests, something that will surely be less complicated than in the Carlos Correa file.

Pham spent the past season with the Cincinnati Reds and Boston Red Sox, playing 144 games, posting a .236 batting average and firing 17 long balls.

The 34-year-old will take on a deep role with the Mets, as fourth outfielder being called upon to play left and right fields, the two corners of Mark Canha and Starling Marte. His speed and power will allow him to get his share of starts mainly against left-handed pitchers.

It remains to be seen if he can repeat his two career seasons of 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases or if his last two campaigns will guarantee the future.
