The last few months tint (positively) the balance sheet of Rob Manfred

Rob Mandred isn’t exactly seen as the best commissioner by everyone. Between his comments on the World Series trophy which would only be a “heap of junk”, his management of the Astros scandal and the work stoppage last year, he is not always well seen.

And in addition, in the eyes of Montrealers, he axed the joint custody project of the Expos and the Tampa Bay Rays.

But when you look at some of his accomplishments over the past few years, you realize that he made some big decisions that are important for baseball.

For example? The launcher dial. As you know, the impact of the dial is very important since he not only succeeded in reducing the length of games, but he did not cut in the offensive – on the contrary.

The dial, the biggest bases and limiting the pitcher’s throws to when a runner is on base are factors that help generate offense.

It’s the same for the end of the special defense. Even if I am against this idea, I understand why it was done, to generate the offensive.

And clearly, it works.

Obviously, not everything is on point and the use of the dial continues to make people talk, but in the end, there is a lot of positive. I don’t think removing the dial is a solution.

But that’s not all. After all, Rob Manfred made other decisions that are very good for Major League Baseball right now.

Raise the playoffs to 12 teams? It works well. The phantom rider from round 10? It makes the teams happy.

Having matches during the pandemic? It can indeed enter the lot, indeed.

And we shouldn’t forget, last month, how much fun everyone had watching the World Baseball Classic.

I’m not the biggest fan of Rob Manfred, but let’s just say the commissioner has been making good decisions for some time.

Baseball comes out on top.
