The Blue Jays even their series against the Mariners

The Toronto Blue Jays finally showed signs of life in game three of the American League Championship Series, defeating the Seattle Mariners by a score of 13-4. But the work was far from over for the Blue Jays, who trailed 2-1 in the series and had to face Luis Castillo on the mound. Max Scherzer did the same for Toronto.

And it was the latter who gave in first, Josh Naylor sending his offering to the other side of the fence in the second round.

But as he had done the day before with a runner on second base, Andres Gimenez sent Castillo's shot far to right for a two-run homer in the next half-inning. In the same inning, Daulton Varsho drew a walk with the bases loaded against Gabe Speier, who was already replacing Castillo, and the score was then 3-1 in favor of Toronto. Although there was only one out at the time, the reliever still ended the threat.

Then in the fourth inning, the Jays added two runs, courtesy of a double from George Springer, who also scored on a bad pitch from Matt Brash.

There was then no question for Scherzer of leaving the meeting, he who sent manager John Schneider to go chew his gum in the dugout quite clearly. Well done, MadMax.

The Mariners then got within three runs on Eugenio Suarez's timely single in the sixth off Mason Fluharty, but Josh Naylor was pinned at third base by Addison Barger, ending the inning.

But Vladimir Guerrero Jr., via the long ball, and Gimenez with a two-run single, ended Seattle's hopes. Final score: 8-2.

The two teams are therefore tied at two everywhere in the series, with the fifth duel taking place tomorrow evening (Friday) in Seattle. For the occasion, Kevin Gausman and Bryce Miller will try to push their opponent to the wall.

If manager Dan Wilson had kept Castillo in the game longer instead of relying on the little geniuses who have never set foot on a baseball field, he certainly could have saved a few arms for the third game in three days tomorrow. We'll see what impact this will have on the rest of the series.
