Sports betting legalized in Ohio: Pete Rose was the first to bet

Pete Rose. When we hear that name, we mainly think of three things: the guy who was a hitting machine, the guy who gave everything on the field… and the guy who is not in the Temple.

Not being in the Hall of Fame because of betting history bothers him and we know it. In recent weeks, he has once again texted Commissioner Rob Manfred asking for clemency.

What seems to be bothering him more and more is the fact that MLB is increasingly endorsing sports betting these days. Some Major League Baseball partners are involved in betting, and Rose finds it… ironic, to put it that way.

Obviously, there is a nuance because Rose bet on his team, but all the same: one can understand his frustration to see that sports betting is used to such an extent, but that he himself is still out of the major league baseball.

So with that in mind, it’s worth noting that Rose took advantage of the fact that sports betting is now legal in Ohio to become the first person to ever legally bet on a sport in Ohio.

He bet the Reds would win the World Series.

Clearly, as we can see, it was talked about and seeing the former Reds be the first to bet in the state of Ohio is full of meaning.

We agree that he will not make money with it since the Reds will not win the World Series. That said, the bet he takes goes beyond the scope of a simple normal bet.
