Shohei Ohtani will launch more often in 2023

Shohei Ohtani is, in my opinion, one of the most polarizing athletes on planet Earth. He is doing things in his sport that only Babe Ruth before him has been able to do and it’s been a long time!

As a fan, we all want to see the Japanese in action as often as possible, because he is electrifying. It’s this kind of athlete that makes people love the sport and sells tickets.

He himself, as a professional sportsman, obviously wants to play as much as he can. Doing the thing he loves most in the world. Even from the point of view of his teammates, it’s clear that they want to have him on the pitch with them as much as possible, because he gives them a better chance of getting wins.

Well, it looks like everyone will be happy next season. Indeed, Los Angeles Angels manager Phil Nevin recently mentioned that the goal is to get him pitched more often in 2023.

More frequent departures

With the reality of having a Shohei Ohtani in their roster, the Angels use a rotation of six starters, as opposed to the standard five. Nevin said he won’t be changing his starting lineup for the next season, but plans to use his versatile star all six days on the mound, as opposed to the previous six games. In short, a bit like the vast majority of starters in MLB.

In doing so, it will therefore be the other gunners of the collective who will suffer. They will skip their turn once in a while. However, we must keep in mind that we are never very far from an injury that would change the game for them. With the quality of Ohtani’s starts, hopefully other pitchers will understand the situation.

The World Classic on Ohtani’s start to the season

The 28-year-old will represent his country in the international competition which will take place from March 8 to 21. Obviously, the number 17 will be used extensively by his training. We must not neglect the impact of this tournament, because depending on his level of energy following the conquest of this championship, perhaps at the start of the season, Nevin will be forced to use less Ohtani than expected. Maybe it won’t, in the end.

Like what, everything is always in constant evolution in life!

“Shohei is going nowhere”

That’s according to Perry Minasian, the Angels’ general manager, regarding his organization’s face contract situation. Ohtani is under contract for $30 million in 2023, but it’s unclear what happens next. Before making a long-term commitment to the team, Ohtani will want to take the pulse of his team. See the direction the organization chooses to take.

Even though Minasian has all the goodwill in the world to retain the services of his MVP, if Shohei doesn’t want to play it anymore, he doesn’t want to play it anymore. It is up to the CEO to do everything to keep one of the best players in the history of this sport in his stronghold.
