When you look at the two playoff races in MLB, you realize that one of them is more fascinating than the other.
Hint: the most fascinating is not in the American.
After all, while many clubs may still have playoff hopes, the Red Sox, Yankees, Angels and Guardians (via the divisional title) aren’t up to the task right now.
I have a feeling the Rays could crumble (for lack of pitchers) and Seattle, which is on fire, could rise.
Things can change, but the other teams, at the moment, don’t really inspire me.
That said, in the National, we are witnessing a race that is much tighter. Several teams are only a few games away from the playoffs.
The Braves (9.5 games ahead in the division) and the Dodgers (6.5 games ahead in the division) seem to have the means to avoid the best-of-second games.
But for the others? Nothing is played.
Not only is the powerhouse title really on the line (Chicago is 2.5 games behind Milwaukee), but the fight for second best is strong.
Including the top of the Central, there are seven clubs that are currently within 6.5 games of each other.
Of the lot, there are teams that are there because of their good start to the season. Others are there because of a good streak right now.
D‘others are there because they are simply mid-ranking clubs.
This will ensure that four of these clubs (Phillies, Giants, Brewers, Marlins, Cubs, Reds and Diamondbacks) should make the playoffs this year.
No, I don’t believe in the Padres or the Mets.
With the series now at six teams per league, many teams believe in it more and more later. It will give a good end to the season.
If only clubs didn’t face teams from other leagues so often… but hey.
