Nolan Arenado: and it starts again

Are you ready for another winter of rumors involving Nolan Arenado?

Last year, the cardinals wanted to exchange their veteran in the third cushion to rejuvenate themselves and to save money. They almost succeeded since an agreement had been taken with the Astros of Houston.

However, the player said no, a question of seeing his options. And finally, he was not exchanged at all.

Arenado is no longer the player he has already been. Offensively speaking, he can no longer make the difference as it has already been the case in his beautiful years in Colorado Rockies.

But will a club take the chance this winter?

It may be done. And in the meantime, Arenado, as on the same date last year, is well aware that it is possible that it is in its last miles under the colors of the cards.

Even if he did not progress exactly in 2025 compared to 2024, there is still an element that plays in his favor (to give it market value): the effect of passing time.

At two years of contract instead of three years ($ 16 million and $ 15 million in 2026 and 2027 instead of $ 21 million in 2025), a club that would get it would take a smaller risk. It would be easier to see a DG try your luck.

And we say that even if Arenado, who slowed down, has never played up to his contract. He was a good player in Saint-Louis, but he was not the one who was to keep the franchise healthy following the retirement of Yadier Molina.

Let us also remember that Arenado never wanted to leave Saint-Louis at all costs. He is good in town and he does not want to leave just for fun. It complicates the file for the cardinals' bosses.
