Nathan Eovaldi is still waiting for his next destination

Always free as air, veteran right-hander Nathan Eovaldi would interest the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Angels.

Nathan Eovaldi spent the last few seasons in the Boston Red Sox uniform, where he represented a certain stability within an ever-changing rotation.

By signing his next contract, the one who made his debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2011 could very well return to the hot California sun, because the two teams showing the most interest in his services would be the Padres of San Diego and the Los Angeles Angels.

In San Diego, he would replace the departures of Mike Clevinger and Sean Manaea, both returned to other places in anticipation of the 2023 season. Following these departures, the rotation of the Padres remains very solid all the same with the presence Blake Snell, Yu Darvish and Joe Musgrove.

Signing an Eovaldi would add depth, but beware, as he is not known to have very good stats when it comes to earned run average. In career, it is at 4.16.

The Red Sox have not given up on re-signing number 17, but they would not be the favorites in the eyes of the Eovaldi clan.

For the Angels, despite the arrival of Tyler Anderson, the arrival of Eovaldi would bring more support to star pitcher Shohei Ohtani. The latter should throw more innings in 2023 and the addition of an insurance policy, in the person of an 11-year veteran, would prove to be a wise choice.

At the moment, the Angels rotation counts on Ohtani, Anderson, Patrick Sandoval, José Suarez and Reid Detmers.

Eovaldi missed the entire 2017 season due to Tommy John-type surgery, but he still has some good seasons ahead of him and a few hundred more good runs up his arm.
